Benjamin Lapage

Benjamin Lapage was born on 3 April 1973. His parents came from a very rich background, and decided that Benjamin should have a better chance in life. They wanted him to become a teacher or a lawyer, and started saving money so they could send their son to college. But Ben showed no interest in college. Instead, he spent all his pocket money on going to the theatre and the cinema. He set his heart on becoming an artist. His parents, reluctantly, refused to support him.

He made his first professional appearance in the theatre when he was 18 years old, where he was spotted by film director Marty Granita. He made his first television appearance at the age of 19 –when he had a small part in Growing Young, which became one of the most successful films of all time. Between the ages of 19 and 26, he made another 30 films, including Marshlife, for which he was nominated for several awards. With his new wealth, he moved from his room in his parents’ small flat to a beachside mansion, where he still lives.

A committed and passionate environmentalist, Ben has given much of his time to environmental organisations. He has also written a best-selling novel, Front Door, and has even recorded two CDs.
