Grammar: a lot of / lots of / much / many / some

Quando queremos nos referir a uma grande quantidade, podemos usar a lot of (ou lots of ), much ou many.

A lot of (ou lots of ) pode ser usado tanto com substantivos contáveis como incontáveis e, em geral, é usado em frases afirmativas.
I’ve got a lot of friends.
She’s got lots of money.

Some pode ser usado tanto com substantivos contáveis como incontáveis e, em geral, é usado em frases afirmativas.
There is some milk in the glass.

Many só pode ser usado com substantivos contáveis e, em geral, é usado em perguntas ou afirmações negativas.
How many friends have you got?
I haven’t got many friends.

Much só pode ser usado com substantivos incontáveis. Como many, em geral é usado em perguntas ou afirmações negativas.
How much money have you got?
I haven’t got much money.

I started my new job last week. The company I work for has a small office in the city. There aren’t …………. people there; just me and five others.
