Grammar: Adverbs
Quando queremos dizer como alguém faz alguma coisa, ou como algo acontece, usamos um advérbio. Os advérbios descrevem a ação dos verbos. Muitos adjetivos em inglês podem se tornar advérbios acrescentando-se –ly.
quiet ➝ quietly
She sang so quietly.
Adjetivos que terminam em –y são transformados em advérbios removendo-se o y e acrescentando –ily.
angry ➝ angrily
He spoke angrily.
Alguns advérbios possuem a mesma forma que o adjetivo.
early | fast | late | hard
He’s a fast driver. He drives fast.
Alguns advérbios são irregulares.
He’s a good driver. He drives well.
