Grammar: Past Simple Tense
A forma negativa de to be no passado é feita inserindo-se not após o verbo.
She was not hungry.
They were not at the theatre last night.
My cousin was not on the train.
A forma abreviada de was not e were not é wasn’t e weren’t.
She wasn’t hungry.
They weren’t at the theatre last night.
My cousin wasn’t on the train.
A negativa de outros verbos no past simple é formada antepondo-se o verbo auxiliar did + not à forma infinitiva do verbo.
They did not go to the theatre.
We did not see them at the swimming pool.
I did not ask him to come to the picnic.
He did not buy a new coat.
A forma abreviada de did not é didn’t.
They didn’t go to the theatre.
