Stage 3

Checking in

RECEPTIONIST: Good evening, sir. Can I help you?

FRANCOIS: Yes, I have a reservation for tonight.

RECEPTIONIST: Could I have your name, please?

FRANCOIS: Francois Menton.

RECEPTIONIST: Is that M-E-N-T-O-N?

FRANCOIS: Yes, that’s right.

RECEPTIONIST: Ah yes, Mr Francois Menton? From Canada?

FRANCOIS: Yes, I arrived this afternoon.

RECEPTIONIST: Welcome to Edinburgh! You’re here just for the one night, I see.

FRANCOIS: Yes, I’m going to visit my daughter in Aberdeen tomorrow. She’s at the university there.

RECEPTIONIST: Aberdeen? That’s a fine place, but not as grand as Edinburgh! Could I just take your details for the guest registration form? Can I have your address in Canada?

FRANCOIS: It’s 1677 Wilson Avenue, Toronto, Ontario, T3L 1A5.

RECEPTIONIST: And your telephone number?

FRANCOIS: That’s 866-833-9876.

RECEPTIONIST: So you’re Canadian. May I see your passport?

FRANCOIS: Here’s my passport.

RECEPTIONIST: Thank you. And do you have a car with you?

FRANCOIS: No, I don’t.

RECEPTIONIST: Thank you. That’s all we need. Here’s your room key. You’re in room 304, on the third floor. Enjoy your stay!
