Is there? Are there? Do you have? e Have you got? são expressões muito usadas para elaborar perguntas em diversas situações.

1 – Is there? e Are there?

Estas expressões são usadas para descobrir se alguma coisa existe ou para obter informação sobre algo. A forma singular é Is there?

• Is there a three star hotel nearby?
• Is there a flight to New York on Sunday?
• Is there anyone who speaks English?

A forma plural é Are there? É preciso usar a palavra any nas perguntas com esta expressão.

• Are there any cinemas in this town?
• Are there any taxis available?
• Are there any shoe shops in this street?

2 – Do you have? e Have you got?

Estas expressões são usadas para fazer perguntas sobre propriedade. Ambas têm o mesmo significado, embora Do you have? seja mais formal e Have you got? seja mais frequentemente usada no inglês falado.
