As palavras abaixo são usadas para descrever a aparência das pessoas. Você pode consultar seus significados no Word Bank no fim do post.

1. Agora coloque as palavras nas seguintes categorias: Height and shape; Colour; General appearance.

2. Observas as fotografias (a–f) e relacione-as com as descrições (1–6) abaixo.

Você sabia?

• Good-looking costuma ser usado para homens.
• Pretty é, em geral, usado para mulheres.
• É aconselhável não utilizar fat ou thin ao se referir a uma pessoa em inglês, pois pode ser considerado rude.

Conectivos

As palavras de ligação são usadas para unir orações.

1. and

Empregamos and para unir duas afirmações semelhantes.

• He is tall and he’s got short, curly hair.

• She is thirty-two and she has three children.

2. but

Usamos but quando queremos restringir a informação apresentada na primeira oração.

• We are both sixty, but we are very fit!
• I work 50 hours a week, but I don’t work on Fridays.
• My mother phoned, but I wasn’t at home.
